FAQ

Questions we get asked

Planning

How long does an installation take?

It tracks the construction around it. An upgrade in an existing room is measured in weeks: design, ordering, install, and setup. Work in new construction follows the build itself. Wiring goes in while the framing is open, and the finish work lands near the end. We will give you a schedule that fits your builder's.

Working With Us

What areas do you serve?

Telluride, Mountain Village, Ridgway, Ouray, Norwood, Placerville, Ophir, Rico, and Montrose. Our shop is at 305 Society Drive in Telluride, and Mountain Village is straight up the gondola from it. Ridgway and Ouray we reach down 145 and over the Dallas Divide on 62. We live in Norwood, so the west end is home ground, not a trip charge.

Who actually shows up to do the work?

Our own people. This is a local company with its own team, not a rotating crew and not a subcontractor you have never met, and whoever arrives has the same standard and the same documentation behind them. Simon Andrew owns the company and is where the buck stops.

Can I visit your shop?

Yes. We're at 305 Society Drive, Unit A2, in Telluride, Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. Call (970) 327-0431 first so we're not out on a job when you arrive; after-hours visits by appointment.

Technology

Should you mount a TV above a fireplace?

Usually it's the wrong spot: heat rises into the electronics and the screen sits above comfortable viewing height. But in this region the fireplace wall is often the only wall, so when it is the right call we manage heat clearance, use a mount that pulls down and tilts to eye level, and route cabling invisibly through stone or timber. We'll tell you honestly when a different wall wins.

Why is WiFi so bad in my Telluride house?

Stone, concrete, steel, and square footage. Mountain construction blocks radio signal, and no single router covers a large home built from rock and timber. Adding another mesh puck rarely fixes it. The cure is a wired backbone with access points engineered to the floor plan, so coverage reaches every corner and holds through every storm.

Should I run wire if I'm building or opening walls?

Yes. Wire is cheap while the framing is open and expensive once the drywall is on. Even if you only want music in two rooms today, running cable to the rooms you might want later costs very little now and saves opening a finished wall in five years.

Can rental guests get separate WiFi from ours?

Yes. A properly built network gives guests their own isolated network, a VLAN, with its own password, so they can stream all weekend without ever touching your cameras, control system, or personal devices. For short-term-rental owners this is the difference between handing out your house and handing out a guest key.

Second Homes & Support

Can I check on the house while I'm away for the winter?

Web-controlled thermostats let you read and set the house temperature from wherever you are, so you are not arriving to a cold house or heating an empty one all season. And you can call us while you are away. One local number, answered by the people who did the work.

Do you service systems you didn't install?

Yes. A lot of our work starts with a system someone else installed, often years ago, often undocumented. We assess what's there, fix what's worth fixing, and tell you honestly when replacement beats repair. You don't need to have been our client to become one.

Builders & Architects

When should we bring you into a new-construction project?

While the framing is still open. Wiring pulled during construction is far cheaper than opening finished walls later, and getting speaker, panel, and equipment locations agreed early keeps them out of conflict with everyone else's plans. The most expensive call is the one made after the walls close.

Do you work with our architect's or designer's drawings?

Yes. That is the normal flow. We work from your drawings, agree device and speaker locations against the design intent, and work with out-of-state firms over video and shared plans. The technology should serve the architecture, so we start from your drawings, not a product catalogue.
